Welcome to the world of Latexy! We’re here to ensure your new latex piece lasts beautifully, with easy-to-follow tips and premium care products available right on our site.
Latex garments provide two different looks: a natural matte finish or a high-shine “bling” look. Since latex is form-fitting, it’s essential to reduce friction to prevent tearing. Here’s how to put on your Latexy outfit:
If the clothing is tight or lacks a zipper (such as full-body suits), apply a latex-friendly lubricant (available on Latexy’s site) on your skin and the garment interior for an effortless fit. Avoid wearing jewelry and keep nails trimmed to prevent damage.
Special Care for Light-Colored Latex: Light-colored latex can stain easily, so avoid makeup, tanning products, and jewelry. Extended contact with metals, lubricants, or shiners may cause color transfer. For best results, ensure your skin is clean, particularly areas that have come in contact with metal jewelry.
If your garment has metal components (such as zippers or snaps), it’s wise to wrap these in tissue when storing, especially if you’ve applied shiner.
We recommend using warm water to clean your latex garment. There’s no need for soap or detergent, but if necessary, opt for mild, unscented body wash or gentle soap. After rinsing, pat the latex dry with a soft towel and lay it flat on a clean, smooth surface.
Once dry, you can lightly dust the inside and outside with Latexy Talcum Powder or cornstarch to ensure any remaining moisture is absorbed. Avoid tumble drying, ironing, or dry cleaning.
After your Latex piece is thoroughly dry, fold it neatly and place it in a sealable plastic bag. Avoid printed bags, as the ink could transfer. For garments with metal components, use tape to cover these areas and prevent contact with the latex. Store in a cool, dark, dry place, away from heat and open flames, as latex is highly flammable.
While hanging latex usually doesn’t harm it, heavy items may stretch at the shoulders or straps. If hanging, use soft, padded hangers, avoiding metal ones to prevent staining.
For that signature latex shine, only use Latexy Silicone Shiner or other silicone-based shiners. Avoid oil-based products (e.g., body oils, lotions), as they can break down latex and cause damage. If your garment comes into contact with oils, wipe it immediately and rewash. For best results, don’t polish latex when it’s completely dry, as this can scratch the surface.
For small tears, place your latex on a flat glass or plastic surface, clean the tear edges, and apply a thin layer of adhesive. Let it set for 15 minutes, then press the edges together carefully. For extra durability, reinforce with Lycra or similar material on the inside.
Note: This method is ideal for non-stress areas. For high-stress areas like underarms or crotches, adding a latex patch on the inside of the tear is recommended.
For the best results, always use latex-specific repair products like those from Latexy. Avoid kits for other materials, such as vinyl or leather, as they may not bond well with latex.
